We are alive!

Don't worry, we are indeed still alive here in Mazatlan! Sorry for the lack of posts this month. There is a reason we have been busier than normal...

The first week of this month, we moved! Just to a different house in the neighborhood, so not far from where we lived before. The house we had been living in sold, which was a big blessing to their owners, and we were able to find a new house to rent through a connection at the church we go to down here.

It's got three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living/dining room, kitchen, and a service room upstairs with it's own bathroom, which Ian uses for his office. The only downsides have been:
  • For some reason our internet service does not work as well in the house. It randomly goes out for hours at a time. Annoying, but something we are getting used to.
  • There is no dishwasher, so all dishes are washed by hand!
  • There is also no washer/dryer! Washing dishes by hand- no problem. Washing CLOTHES and TOWELS by hand- very difficult!
All in all, we are settling in well and enjoying our new home. More later this week about the other things that have been going on down here :)

July, July, July...

I feel like I was just saying this with the arrival of last month, but I can't believe it's July already! Time is just flying by. Here is an update on the garden as of yesterday, July 1st:

Tomatoes are still growing and producing fruit, cucumber vines are growing new leaves- hopefully to produce something!- and green beans are still sprouting.

The kids in El Castillo, where Rancho de los Niños is located, just got done with school this past week. We have been asked to plan some events/ outings for the kids who are able to go. One service project and one fun event per week. It's going to be a busy summer! But we're excited to be a part of the kids' lives and what's going on down here.
